Fabulous Friends

I know most of us have said this before and I know I've mentioned it a few times but wow - I still can't get over the talent and the generosity of the blog world! The above pretty is from Heather. I had admired some of her recent collages and she whipped this one right up for Sugar Bear Central. It will hold a prominent place in my now clean work space where it will inspire me everytime I look at it.

Recently I was very honored to introduce Laura, a new blogger on the scene. She thanked me by sending me the most wonderful package. She mentioned she wanted to send a little thank you, but when I received the package this weekend, I was blown away! Above is a very small sampling of some of the goodies she sent: crepe paper (some vintage including a fabulous Dennison fluted roll!), cards, French postcards, vintage wallpaper, sheet music, and the most scrumptious vintage magazine clippings. Check these out!

Wouldn't you love to wear one of these sweaters at your next party?

This is an advertisment for the pattern to make your own quilted skirt.

Love this ad! If this isn't a tre chic outfit worthy of The Satorialist - I don't know what is!

Aww, how cute.

Now here is an outfit I would so wear. Thanks again Laura! (If you like what you see, she is selling more vintage magazine clippings in her Etsy shop.) Do pop over for a visit if you haven't - she is quite talented and has a wonderful giveaway.

Hugs,

It's Here! It's Here!

It's here! It's here! That is what I was sing songing through the house yesterday when this little beauty arrived. Karla and Beth's Sweet Treats and Roses Recipe Swap book! Look at the lovely cover! It is one of Karla's famous cupcake paintings - which I love! Look at the gorgeous flocked wallpaper at the bottom. So yummy! The sweet rose and tassel complete this gorgeous cover.

My beautiful tag came from Betty at She's Sew Pretty.

The next several photos are a small sampling of some of the 42 beautiful, one of a kind recipe pages that each participant created.

Several people designed the back of their individual page as well. Above is one.

And here is another.

I absolutely love this wonderful one of a kind piece. I am very grateful to Karla and Beth for hosting this swap and for taking the time to put together each individual book and design all of the beautiful covers. Big hugs to everyone!

A Special Project

My very fabulous friend Mari contacted me last week with news of a wonderful project she is involved in. A non-profit close to her, Brighten A Corner, is going to be making over the home of a very worthy family. This family recently had quads but one went home to the Lord. The three remaining girls are going to be getting a pink and gingham nursery and Mari asked if I could create something for the space. I was originally going to do some kind of wall art but veered into the decorative box direction. The photos are poor quality as they were taken at night but I had to photograph everything when I finished it last night so that I could get it packaged and shipped this morning - the makeover will be taking place this weekend!

I had some wonderful vintage baby wrapping paper that I've been anxious to use. This project was a perfect fit.

I wanted to keep the box on the simple side as I'm not sure of the family's tastes and the paper is so cute I didn't want to embellish it too much.

Inside I placed a little surprise. The three surviving sisters are certainly angels among us while their sister is an angel above us.

On a different note, I was recently tagged by Natalea for more random facts. Here are a few:

1. If I'm recalling an embarrassing moment, I usually hum.

2. I have a certain ritual I must follow before I go to bed: Set the alarm, shake my dream ball so that I only have good dreams, check to make sure the alarm is set correctly, bless myself with holy water. Yeah, there are some OCD tendancies and Catholic guilt here!

3. After dinner, I must immediately clean up the kitchen. I cannot stand knowing that there are dirty dishes, etc. waiting for me. I like to get everything done right away so that I can relax.

4. I am a Days of Our Lives junkie. I Tivo it everyday and watch it when I get home from work. Most times I fast forward through everything except for the one or two stories I'm actually interested in.

5. Ditto for Oprah (really I don't watch that much TV!).

6. In honor of the Super Tuesday primaries tomorrow - I'm not about to take a political stance on my crafty and light hearted blog - but I will say that I take elections very seriously and thoroughly research all candidates before I make a decision. Once I make a decision, that is it - no turning back!

Have a great day!
