Valentine's Wreath

I got this idea from this fabulous lady. Super easy to make and perfect to fill that empty spot. I used 18 gauge wire and bent it into a heart shaped and glued faux rose petals all around.

I also made a baby themed mini notebook. I'm keeping this in my purse and using it when I think of a potential name or feel the need to make some kind of baby themed list. Jeff even suggested bringing it to the hospital on the big day and keeping a journal of the day's events. Nursery paint has been purchased! We are going with a creamy white color and will do touches of pink in the wall and room decor. Jeff swears that the room is going to be painted by February 1. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I Finally Started Some Nursery Projects

I have finally finished one nursery project! I have been a little slow in this front. We still have to actually clean out the baby's room and paint. We have started the cleaning process (well hubby has at least - it's on my to do list today). I was toying with different themes such as sweet treats/vintage bakery, and ballgowns but in the end I have realized I will be lucky if we get the room painted and the furniture in! We did get a crib bumper and I'm toying with the idea of creating my own crib skirt (this is coming from someone who cannot sew!). I am hoping we will get some decorations on the walls as well but as the baby will most likely be sleeping in our room for a bit, I've decided to accept the fact that I cannot get everything done on my crazy to do list and to just go with the flow.

I created this ice cream cone treat using say it with letters! scallop circle as a base.

I covered the scallop with some satin and used some ribbon to highlight the scallop edging. The ice cream cone is actually a container of bubbles I received from Natalea. I've had it sitting on my shelf as decor but decided it would be perfect for this project. It was shrink wrapped and when I took the wrapping off I was greeted by a very yummy strawberry scent. That was an unexpected treat.

I decided to nestle the ice cream cone on a bed of crepe paper, posies, seam binding and tulle. The Amour charm seemed to be the perfect piece for this creation.
Okay - now I better get to cleaning that room!

Grandfathers

My grandfather passed away on Friday evening. He had been ill for several years and entered the hospital earlier this week. On Friday we received the call that it was time to gather by his bedside. We were able to be around him as he took his final breath. I do not know for sure if he knew we were there but in my heart I believe he did. My other grandfather passed away when I was 8 years old. I do feel badly that neither will be able to see my daughter but I know they will see her from a different perspective from up above.

I do not like to go into heavy topics on this blog as I believe it is more for enjoyment and sharing of my creative and home journey but I do want to just take a moment to pay tribute. Without going into "more info than we needed" mode I will say that the relationship with my grandfather and most of my father's side of the family is strained. Even through this, I did know that my grandfather loved me and my sister with all of his heart. I do have fond memories from my childhood and I will carry these forward and these are the memories I will choose to share with my daughter.

Several years ago I made the conscious decision to let go of the negativity I was holding and to forgive. I am happy I made this decision for I can truly say that I have no regrets. I am content to know that we were with him in his final moments as he crossed to the Lord's arms. I do hope he has found peace.

My Favorites

I love all of the m&m holiday color combos but the Valentine's edition is by far my favorite. I love the white and the pink together. I could just eat this whole bowl!

Not Much Going On

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say I'm still here. I have been in kind of a slump lately. I haven't worked on much in terms of creative endeavors since Christmas. I've been busy reading baby books and trying to organize things before the baby arrives in March. We have to tackle the nursery next. I feel so overwhelmed by it all but I'm trying very hard to take it one day at a time and I remind myself that people do this everyday so I can handle it!
