Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Back to Work I Go

Today is my second day back at work. I can't tell you how badly I wish I could be home with my little Chelsea right now. But the economy has taken its toll on our family and we need to have two incomes right now. For anyone else in this situation, this book is a great read.

So many changes have taken place over the past three months. I've decided to put my pursuit of a Masters degree on indefinite hold. There just aren't enough hours in the day and I want to spend every moment available with Chelsea. Knowing I'm missing 8 hours a day with her and all that she is doing in those 8 hours is really killing me right now. Everyone says it gets easier as the weeks go by but does it really?

I thought I'd be able to have a bit more time to blog but that has also taken a back burner for now. Thank you to everyone who continues to stop by to see if I've updated and those of you who have e-mailed me directly. Funny thing is I'm actually thinking now that I am back to work I may have more time to check in on all of your blogs during my breaks. The time to be creative hasn't quite been there yet but I know it will come. Chelsea is getting to a stage where I can put her in the bouncy seat and get a few things done. Of course, once again, I don't want to miss time with her so I have a feeling anything creative that comes out of me will be small projects easily accomplished in an hour or so and probably have a children's theme! Right now I am savoring every moment with my little family and trying to balance work in there as well. I know I don't have to tell you this but those of you that are able to stay home with your children are truly blessed. I do hold out hope that could be me someday.

Now that I'm really trying to put the family on a budget, I've been looking at all kinds of ways to cut costs and save money. I found this great website. And, proof once again that I really need to learn how to sew, check out this and this! I'm trying to recruit my mother and sister to help me with the former. I'm figuring if we start now, we may finish by the time Chelsea is 5 :).

Have a great day.

Hey sweetie! Glad to see a post from you :)
I know what you mean about not enough time I post maybe once a month and the only crafting I have managed is to start scrap booking again, which I am glad I have . Fortunatley we moved overseas as the economy spiraled downwards or i would be at work with you! We are really trying to save our pennies while we are here and pay off bills because we know it will be tough once we go back if we dont!
Have a great weekend with your baby girl :)

I'm so pleased that motherhood is everything you wanted it to be Karla. Working and being a mother is a juggle and your schooling will be there later on so enjoy every minute with little Chelsea.

Hi Karla,

It is wonderful to read your post today and hear from you. You are going through such a tough time right now leaving Chelsea. I am sending you a big hug!

You are a strong and courageous woman and you are already setting great examples for Chelsea.

Thanks for all of the great links in your post. Isn't everyone on a budget? UGH! It is getting tougher. Shelby goes to school full time this year so I am dusting off my resume and looking to head back. Wish me luck.
Please show some updated pics of your sweet daughter, soon.

Sincerely,
Tammy

That Princess Pavillion Tent is truly amazing...WOW!! I'll be lucky to even build up courage to start something like it. It does look pretty tough.

It's so hard to work with a baby. It breaks your heart every day to leave your little one. I know! Actually, it was hard for me to work even as my daughter got older. I was lucky because I got to switch to part-time after about 10 years. This enabled me to be home with her after school. She's 20 now and in college and I still work part-time. I'm so blessed to have this choice.

You are doing what you need to do right now for your family. Maybe your situation will change so you can be home more. I hope so.

Oh dear Karla... I thought it was about this time you visited the Cape. Well, you've got an awesome reason for not being here! And NEXT year, I hope you CAN come and I will get to see sweet little Chelsea!!! =)

How's the little puppy doing with a baby in the house?

Hi!
I stopped by yesterday and FORGOT to leave a note! I went visiting the tent and money saving blogs you highlighted.
Back to work... I hope that your work is as fun and challenging as it was for the girls in The Desk Set.

I guess it is the same forever, to be content in our day at whatever point in our life we are at. You are at a truly wonderful point. And soooo rewarding... as also challenging.

Hugs,
Mary

It must be really difficult for you to leave Chelsea, after all you have been together for 9 months and 3 months. Enjoy every moment, I know I did and time does not wait (my girls are 24 and 21 now). I am sure that you will find your craft time too. Best of luck back in work. hugs, Margie.

When my first child was born I had a horrible labor
what a nightmare after 36
hours and would only dilated to a 5 and stopped.
Had a C-section also.
7 years later with my 2nd baby had a planned C-section. Thank Goodness.
Chelsea is cute. Congrats!

I know it must be hard to leave Chelsea; she's so darned cute. But it's really rugged out there, and it sounds like you're doing the right thing for now. I'm glad you can check into blogs a bit more now, though. Even little posts with a pic from you are like little presents for the rest of us!

Hang in there -- those first days back after anything are rough -- all the harder when you're leaving the angel at home for a bit!
