My Sewing Area

Really bad photo and I did not stage it at all either (note the framed money from the first sale of my old dog treat business) but here is my little evolving sewing area. I have not sewed much since 8th grad home ec but I have wanted a sewing machine for the last several years. My mother and father-in-law gave me the machine for Christmas and Jeff gave me lots of sewing goodies so there was no longer an excuse to not jump right in.

I made a skirt for Chelsea's 1st birthday (coming up on the 18th!) and will post some photos. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out though there are lots of mistakes. It contains ruffles so they aren't that noticeable. Hee hee. Now I'm getting more confident and I think I might try some summer outfits for Chelsea. I will start small and easy and see how it goes. If you know of any easy patterns for little girl outfits please do share.

I have an old abandoned chair that I rescued from my father-in-law that I will be remaking into my sewing chair and I'm going to clean this area up a bit but for now it works. It is in the basement so natural light is at a premium. The old Singer table (with the machine still inside) is my husband's. He does have an eye for the good stuff after all! (Just kidding honey).

Having a sewing area makes sewing so much more enjoyable (I have to drag my portable out of the closet if I want to use it....UGH)

Your so lucky to have that beautiful antique sewing cabinet....I love it!

Sewing for little girls is so much fun. I made a lot of our daughter's clothes when she was small.

Thanks so much for your sweet comments on my blog!!!
Hugs!

What a fabulous sewing table! I've never been a sewer (that's BAD! -- how 'bout "I've never been a seamstress," which I was going to use before but I thought that sounded to professional and now I'm free associating... ANYWAY, I appreciate that skill -- and it'll be terrific for Chelsea!

( I have a brand new sewing machine that is still in the box after 2 years!-again: how do you lose the cord when you don't use the machine?!?) ANd I have the same sewing table! Got it for free!

What a gorgeous vintage singer. I grew up with my mom sewing all our clothes on a treadle singer, I loved the comforting sound it made once the rhythm got going - but not being pricked by pins at fittings!

Sadly she no longer has the treadle singer, but I was happy to find a similar one to display in my home. It's a little worn, but oh well, that's what gives it a story! Happy sewing!

My poor sewing room/office needs a lot of work. I'm too embarassed to even show photos. Maybe when its all done I'll show a Before pic. LOL

Can't wait to see the skirt you made! I've made skirts for myself, but no little girl's outfits.

Happy sewing!
