True Happiness Is...Not Organizing My Closets

Well it sure has been a while since I last posted. I'm still hanging around. I just haven't done much blog worthy lately. My weekdays consist of getting up, walking the dog, getting myself ready, getting Chelsea ready, going to work, picking up Chelsea, feeding Chelsea, making dinner, bathtime, bedtime - lather, rinse and repeat. Not very exciting huh? I still go to bed within an hour or so of Chelsea. I'm the type of person that needs a good 7 -8 hours of sleep to function properly.

Hoping to have a bit of extra time here and there now that the supposedly lazy days of summer are upon us. I have a list of projects and things I want to clean and organize. The other day I had the aha moment of realizing it just doesn't matter if I clean and organize the linen closet right now. If I get some precious me time I need to focus on me and things that will recharge my soul. Not clean and organize. I'm realizing that this time of my life is not meant to be clean and organized but to be enjoyed. Enjoying watching Chelsea grow, enjoying helping her become all that she can be, enjoying finding the new "me." And if that means there is a closet busting with sheets for a bed we no longer own, and another closet filled to the brim with shopping bags I plan to reuse in some fashion, and another cabinet stuffed with cookbooks, then so be it. There will be time to organize someday...

Bravo. So glad you made this "choice." It's so easy to fall into the trap of the must do, and sometimes we must.

And sometimes, we need to take care of ourselves first. I'm glad you see that!

Take all the time with your sweet little one that you want. She won't be a baby forever. The closets will wait, babies grow up.

Too true Karla.
Be kind to yourself and enjoy your 'ME' time. The rest will wait.
Hugs for you and Chelsea xx

You are so wise to realize how important it is for you to re-charge. All the 'stuff' will wait...right now take care of yourself and enjoy every minute with your precious Chelsea.

I gave up organizing after baby #1... I didn't want to miss a single second of my children's growing up! My Mom always tells me I can have a neat-as-a-pin house when the kids are all grown and moved out... but to just enjoy them while they are all young and still at home!!!
(Thank you for your sweet comment.)

Pretty much, YES it is. These are the wonderous days of your life, sweet Karla. Enjoy it ALL, your little darling will grow so fast. You are right, enjoy the NOW and take the time for you, too. The linen closet will still be there 15 years from now to organize.:)

Karla this is the 'perfect' post. You make sure you do take some of that 'me' time as well as enjoying life with your lovely family. Sometimes we mothers tend to get a bit lost as we are too busy worrying about everyone else.

I really slacked off when Shelby arrived and now I only organize when it absolutely drives me crazy.

You sound like me...I know I've been busy, but not with anything fun to blog about. (who wants to hear about me cleaning my basement?) LOL

And yes! Time spent with Baby trumps everything else. There will be plenty of time to organize closets later...maybe when she starts school. :-)

Hi Karla,
So good to hear from you, and your sweet comments......

You weren't being a downer about your sweet grandma. It is sad to watch people we love change with this disease, but I suppose if there's anything good about this dreadful disease, is .... the person with the disease really doesn't understand or know the changes that we're seeing..... So that's a blessing for them. Just sad for us.....

Thanks for the name of the book...... I don't have that one.

Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Dolores
PS.... I don't have your e-mail and wanted to respond to you.... it won't hurt my feelings if you delete this message after you read it.... I know it's personal.....
