I found this great little miniature dress form at a local cottage store this past weekend. I think it will be great for displaying bracelets and things - if I ever can get my act together and open an Etsy shop! I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to work on much for a store. On top of regular ball and chain work and Yuppy Puppy orders, I sold 5 bracelets without even trying! I donated a bracelet for a local auction and someone saw it (it hasn't even been in the auction yet) and asked if I could make 5. Of course I said sure! It gives me such a thrill to think that something I made could bring some small amount of joy to someone else.
With such a bogged down schedule I've been thinking - does anyone else feel like its time to say "Enough - I need some me time!"? I'm looking forward to the long weekend and finally being able to get some gardening done. I've had to keep putting it off for work or some other obligation that comes up (have I mentioned I am a volunteer addict?). So I finally cleared my schedule and low and behold - my aunt calls to say she is having my cousin's 14th birthday party on Monday and then I came into work this morning to find an invite to a going away party for a colleague and friend (she is moving to FL) for Sunday! AHHHH! I want to scream. I told my aunt that we would be there if I got my gardening done by Monday afternoon - otherwise I'd stop by with a gift later in the week, as for the friend- I don't know what to do! I really feel like this is quite last minute and it will be okay to skip it as the party is at least a 50 minute drive and I will be taking her to lunch right before she leaves and I'm working on a little collage for her - BUT on the other hand, it is her going away party. Does anyone else get so caught up in trying to make others happy that you completely neglect you?! I know taking care of myself should be my top priority otherwise I won't be there to help anyone else but I feel like I'm letting people down. Why can't anyone give at least a week's notice before holding a party?! Okay, deep breath, my rant is over.

Oh you poor thing!! I do know exactly how you feel.
Remember the golden rule, if you don't give to yourself first you'll have nothing to give anyone else.
Take a breath... cancell the weekend, close your curtains, turn off the phone and hide your car in the garage. No one will know you're home.
And I love that dress form!! Yay on the custom orders :)
Oh my! I've been there...said that...felt that...and ranted that! Best thing is to...you know it's coming...put yourself first say "no" so that you can say "yes" to taking a break for yourself! I want to garden all weekend, but we need to go "work" on our cabin...hum, luckily the cabin is at the lake! I'm going for it!

Love that cute little dress form, too!
Have a great weekend!
"No" works well and BTW you don't have to give any explanation either... :-)
I want to see the bracelets!!! Where can I see them?
Breathe!!! Miss Mari~
Your mini-manni is so pretty! That will make a great display piece.
Congrats on the bracelet sales!Don't you love it when they happen that easy. :)
As far as the hectic schedule goes...You won't be any good to anyone if you completely run yourself down. Take a quilt-free break and enjoy your day in the garden.
Oh I feel for you!! I think your taking her to lunch and her lil gift is sufficient. I would not feel guilty personally if it were me and I opted not to go to the last minute party after already doing this.
That dress form is the best! I can't believe the great things that are out there to be found. :) I CANNOT wait to see some of your bracelets!!
I hope you do take some time this weekend for some therapeutic gardening. It's so good to dig in the earth. Plus healthy, too, IMO. LOL
Karla you aren't ranting, it's fair enough! I think Miz Smoochie Lips says it perfectly when she says to close the curtains etc and pretend you aren't there! Hope you are doing that!!!
Enjoy your long weekend, I hope!
I love that miniature dress form, its so pretty...
Don't forget to stop and smell the roses every once in a while...I know you can do it.:o)

Oh, I understand too. Even when the invitations are to wonderful, fun things with people you love and want to do stuff with, it still can be too much!
I do very much know how you feel Karla and I do think it is totally acceptable to just say that you can't make it. There will always be the obligatory visits, get togethers, parties, etc, but you need to take time for you. I really do know how you feel. Hope you got some time relax.
