Apple Pickin'

For all my moaning and groaning about winter and holiday stress - one thing I do love about living in Connecticut is apple picking! Jeff and I had an apple excursion with my in-laws recently. This orchard is right around the corner from my home. We are blessed to have 3 orchards within walking distance of our home and several more nearby.

My father-in-law picking some of the top most perfect apples.

My mother-in-law with a yummy example.

Jeff sampling the inventory.

A view down one of the rows. The entire orchard is really breathtaking and it is quite a special feeling to stand in the middle and appreciate all that God has given.

Look at all those sweet little orbs just begging to go into a homemade pie, applesauce, baked apple, etc., etc.!

I had to sample one as well! Yum!

Perfection.

This particular orchard also houses a store where you can buy already picked apples, candy, jams, cookies, and crafts.

Some of the gift ware selection.

Some holiday pumpkins waiting for their new homes.

Ah, the end of the road - time to go home and bake a pie!

I was waiting for the pie!
No apples in our area...cuz no rain at all this summer. We'll have to buy some at the store for our pies :(

Apple picking is one of our favorite fall events. Last year the orchard also had pick your own broccoli. The kiddos were more excited about finding the broccoli heads than the apples!

Have a lovely weekend.

Now that looks like a lovely day!! I have a tree in my garden full of apples, you've inspired me to collect them so Tom can make a pie!

How fun! We have apple trees here on our property, but it's fun to go to an orchard...especially where there's a store!

Karla how wonderful! I love apple picking or at least buying apples from the orchard. Nothing like it is there! You are so lucky to leave near three of them! We have to drive for about an hour to get to the nearest one. They have great royal gala apples, do you have those? and the fantastically named, Pink Ladies!!!

Hi Karla,
What fun!! Yummy fresh apples...you are so lucky!
Apples would have to be my favourite fruit at the moment. Nothing like a nice juicy apple cold from the fridge on a hot day! And I love applie pie too...how did yours turn out!
All the best,
Kathy
