I Want This Dress

Did you see this adorable vintage inspired dress worn by Carrie Underwood at the Country Music Awards? I saw a photo in the paper this morning and instantly began trying to figure out how to copy this look (since I can't sew this is probably going no where!). I love the color and style, the seed beading, the cummerbund with rhinestone brooch, the adorable ankle tie shoes and the fun pink rhinestone (or perhaps in her case diamond!) heart necklace.

Speaking of dresses. I have had two high school students e-mail me about the prom dress I posted here for Natasha's Virtual Prom back in November. In case any others are reading this I want to let you know that sadly, I do not own this dress but downloaded the photo through Google Images. If you are interested in vintage prom dresses, check out your local yard and estate sales, auctions, vintage and thrift stores, and ebay. Any other ideas for prom goers interested in finding the perfect vintage dress?

the daughter of a girlfriend wore a dress in that vein which she bought at Saks Fifth Avenue; it's going to be a good year for dresses!

Very pretty dress! Have you looked through the pattern books? You might find a similar pattern, then just pick out the fabric! (Then find yourself a good seamstress!!!!)

I'd love to see the high school girls' pictures of vintage dresses they find these days. I'm sure they'll be pretty as ever. When my two girls were in high school I often had to make them dresses, because our town is so small they NEVER wanted to chance being seen in a dress another girl might be wearing. I wasn't very good at sewing them, but by golly---they'd at least last the one and only night of Prom (or Homecoming)!

Carrie Underwood also another beautiful dress on Idol Gives Back. It was a peridot with a rose sheen, long and off the shoulder. Maybe we need her stylist although wearing one would be...all dressed up and no where to go. I wish "dress up" was more important these days-I think that is why I love the vintage age.

I'm not much on country music so I didn't see this. But I have to agree that it's too die for! Such a fabulous girlie vintage look that it gives. I love it! Thanks for showing!

Pretty dress. But what kind of way is she standing? Looks very awkward. Probably hard to stand at all in those shoes.
