So I'm a little late to the party with this one. The new redecorated Oval Office was unveiled recently and I've seen several blog posts about it. Most seem to be giving it a big thumbs down. Too boring. Too beige. Too blah.
At first I agreed but then I started to consider what this office is used for. Official United States business. While that doesn't necessarily mean blah, boring, bland - I don't think it means life of the party, lots of patterns, prints, colors either.
It seems to be a comfortable space and maybe a bit more informal than past presidents have chosen. But for the impromptu staff meeting or chat, it seems like it would work. What do you think about the new space? Do you give it a yea or a nea?

I think the couches look a bit out of place, like something you would see in your neighbors house, not the oval office!

I say a yea. The sofas look cozy. The room looks really very prsident-ny.
It works for me. I'm a yea. It looks formal enough to be presidential and yet "real" -- like a real person can be in it, settle in. I suppose they could jazz it up with more colorful pillows, but I'm not so sure that would be the right look! I say OK!
I thought the same thing Kim but I think they are the same couches Bush had - just recovered. Something about the fabric though seems out of place for this office.

I like the leather chairs. I give them a big old yea! The rest just seems pretty sterile.

Actually I really like it! I like how the sofa area looks like you good sit down and feel comfortable. I think it is warm and stylish looking!
