Banana Pudding and Some Odds and Ends

Hello Everyone! I'm sorry I haven't visited you all in the past few days. I'm getting ready for my vacation. Tomorrow we go to Cape Cod for the week. Maybe I will be able to meet Louise from Beachy's Cape Cod Cupboard! I'll be sure to take lots of photos. We are bringing our laptop so I plan on sitting by the beach and visiting all of you to catch up as well as doing a few Cape Cod posts. In the meantime, I wanted to leave you with another fabulous Magnolia Bakery recipe. Tried this one last week - and once again it was a big hit!Banana Pudding
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 C ice cold water
3.4 oz. package instant vanilla pudding mix (preferably Jello Brand)
3 C heavy cream
12 oz. box Nilla Wafers (no substitutions)
4 C sliced ripe bananas
In a small bowl, one the medium speed of an electric mixer, beat together the sweetened condensed milk and water until well combined, about 1 minute. Add the pudding mix and beat well, about 2 minutes more. Cover and refrigerate for 3-4 hours or overnight before continuing. It is very important to allow the proper amount of time for the pudding mixture to set. In a large bowl, on the medium speed of an electric mixer, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the pudding mixture into the whipped cream until well blended and no streaks of pudding remain.
To assemble the dessert, select a large, wide bowl (preferably glass) with a 4-5 quart capacity. Arrange one-third of the wafers to cover the bottom of the bowl, overlapping if necessary, then one-third of the bananas and one-third of the pudding. Repeat the layering twice more, garnishing with additional wafers or wafer crumbs on the top layer of the pudding. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and allow to chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours or up to 8 hours.
This is the collage I made for the Vintage Beach Swap. It was supposed to be 4x4 but I used a 4x5 canvas.

Above are some fun items I recently received including my Princess Amelia bird from the Little Pink Studio. The beautiful sachet is my "purchase" with the gift certificate I won from Beachy's Cape Cod Cupboard and the pink depression class cake plate I won on ebay.

Lastly - I leave you with the crown I made for Renee. Renee if you are reading this - look away!

Hi Karla! Your comment on my blog just went POOF! I've been having blogger problems this afternoon.

My kids are still in school until late next week, and I will be chaperoning lots of end of the year activities. However, I pop in and out of the shop periodically to get orders done, so please tell the ladies at the desk who you are and that you are looking for me (that way if I am in the office they can get me, or leave a message so I can try to be there the same time as you). =) How fun to meet another blogger!

I wondered over here from Louises blog... that is the same recipe my mom and grandma have been using for banana pudding for years now. It makes the yummiest pudding! My husband considers it a favorite "comfort food" dessert.

Delicious looking banana pudding, yum. Your crown is so pretty :)

Delightful blog and I can't wait to read more; but, my dear, any recipe for Banana Pudding that calls for instant pudding is NOT the real deal. It is a bit more trouble but there is no substitute for cooked custard in this dish.
