Tiny Dancers

I have had some vintage ballerina cupcake toppers for a while now. They have been sitting amongst the many supplies, odds and ends, and general chaos that is my little crafting area. I have seen a few people use these lovely ladies as box toppers (most notable Rhea) and thought this would be a fun project to tackle with my sister, Shelley. Shelley is getting back to the crafty ways of our childhood. She recently purchased letters from Deb and is having fun embellishing them for her room - I'll have to get a photo of them when they are done! Above is a picture of Shelley getting her glitter on.

Shelley picked the pretty pink ballerina and painted her box a lovely shade of lavender. I showed her how to do the crepe paper ruffle and she is a natural! She finished before I did and did quite a lovely job!

This is my box. These were a lot of fun to make and I'm happy to have been able to share the fun with my sister!

This is a little sneaky peek for Jenn and Jacqui. These darlings are flying your way soon!

I want to take this opportunity to introduce a wonderful new blogger to the community. Laura has just started her blog and would love to share her corner of the world with you. She is into many things and has already succeeded in creating a lovely area in blog world. Do stop by to say hi and tell her Karla sent ya!

Now let's get to the business of starting the New Year right. I've already had the opportunity to write out the date on a few checks and notes - isn't it fun to write 2008? I have a good feeling about this year. I was reading of the Chinese belief that the number 8 holds much good fortune and positive energy. I remember I couldn't wait for my 8th birthday - for some reason, I've just always loved the number. This makes me think back to 1988 - hmm, I can't remember if that was a good year or not. It must have been with the double 8s!

Here's to you 2008!

Happy New Year Karla! Thank you for such a lovely introduction and for making me feel so welcome. I'm still in awe of how welcoming & friendly the blog world is. I didn't expect this so I'm delightfully surprised. I've been battling a bug over the holidays but you've inspired me with your sweet creation to get back to the studio.

God bless,
Laura
